Ross S. French 50 years of service

As many of you know, Ross passed away in December of 2009.  We are leaving this page as a testament to all the years of service that Ross dedicated to our department and community.  RIP Ross……

In 2004, Ross S. French celebrated 50 years of service with the Bolton Volunteer Fire Company.  Ross joined the department on September 24th, 1954.  Ross has held just about every position imaginable in the Fire Company including drill master, caretaker (with help from Rita), Assistant Chief, Director, He served as Chief from 1969 to 1978, he currently serves as Vice President of the Fire Company and on the Board of Fire Commissioners for the Bolton Fire District.  Ross has served as a teacher, a mentor and a friend to many of us at the Bolton Fire Company over the years.  Never willing to sit and watch, Ross still is a very active member of the department on Drills and calls, whether it be a safety officer, or bedding hose, or whatever needs to be done, Ross is there.  He is also a regular driver for the Rescue Squad as well.  Outside of Firefighting, Ross is a past member of the Bolton Town Board, a Veteran the Korean conflict, a legendary hunter, a true family man, and a great friend.  Thank you Ross for all that you do for us.

Ross was honored at our 2004 Banquet and installation of officers held at the Georgian Resort.  Many gifts and tributes were presented to Ross that evening.  Here are a few memories from that evening…

The company also celebrated Ross’s achievement on September 18, 2004 with a parade and picnic.  Fire companies from all over the area came to honor Ross for his years of service……
